Simple FOTD

This is the look I wore on Wednesday to work, using a new tip I picked up - a sort of 'push liner' underneath the eye using black and brown eyeshadows. I've not quite perfected it yet but I'm having fun trying. My skin this time was the Mineralize cream foundation (in the compact) NC20, Prolongwear concealer NC20 and MSF Natural in Light Plus. I used mainly my usual products for a natural eye look - Copperplate, Satin Taupe, Brule and a tiny touch of Carbon over Soft Ochre paint pot. I added a little dab of Crystal eyeshadow on the inner corner because I like the purple sheen. When I got to work I added Deelight cremesheen glass, which I must remember to pick up next time I go to the shop - I love it! Harmony to contour, Pink Rebel lustre drops to highlight and Dame blush for a little colour completed the look. I also got around to opening my MAC lash curler and Bad Bad Black Opulash mascara and I am very pleased with the results.

I used a new dye for the top section of my hair this week - La Riche/Directions Atlantic Blue. I hope you like it (I do!) I intended to dye all of my hair the darkest blue again, but then I thought I'd probably never get around to doing any lighter blues in the future as the dark blue stains the hair quite permanently... I opted for an inbetween. I am still using SFX Blue Velvet underneath and the same mixed with SFX Virgin Rose to make a purple for my fringe (which fades pretty quickly to a bright fuscia purple, but looks dark right now!)

My nails at the minute are a-england Bridal Veil and OPI Save Me. I swear Bridal Veil is holographic but the light is still quite faint at home. When the sun peeps around the clouds it has a light non-linear holo sheen. Gorgeous.

I am going on my first MAC Update this Friday and I am way, way excited. Everyone else at work is like 'oooh not update' and I'm more like 'oooooooooooooh update!!' I can't wait to see what's new. Apparently you get used to it, but I'm not... not yet anyway. Hope you all have good things to look forward to aswell.

Thanks for looking,

Ruth xx

I am practicing facecharts... Blending on paper is HARD. I never got on with pastels very much, and that's what it reminds me of.

  1. Dame is really flattering on you! And I love your brows, as always! I never got the hang of blending and doing stuff on paper, I still just use pencils to map something out. And I still can't draw lashes :S

  2. Your hair looks really pretty in the first and third pictures and I must say, I'm terribly jealous of your amazing MAC job. So cool, you're quite good at the charts despite your apparent blending challenges.

    1. I can't get the hang of using just enough cream products to make the colours stick, it always gets out of hand and overblown...

  5. Lovely Ruth! You make me want Dame! If I have Well Dressed, Nars Desire and Vanilla Pigment to sweep over lightly - do I still NEED Dame? I've always overlooked it? Thanks xxx

    1. I think probably not, I'm always confusing Dame and Well Dressed at work in the testers and on the shelf!!

  6. Love the facecharts AND your hair! I may try out Directions on mine since Manic Panic faded so awfully. Now I want blue, thanks!

    1. Directions or Special Effects. I'm yet to try Manic Panic, I found a shop near me that sells it. Maybe I'll avoid it if you didn't like it.
