Two work looks + presents from Rachael@thebeautyspot

I can finally wear my mineralize eyeshadows to work because ones originally out with the Style Black collection are currently re-released. I wore the Blue half of She Who Dares from the Venomous Villains collection - which is exactly the same as Blue Flame (I have swatched them now, so I know it's true). This was to work on Saturday. It was sweet.
I used scotch tape to make a really straight line on the outer edge, layered the shadow on over Marine Ultra chromaline (pro) to help it pop. A little bit of Print eyeshadow into the crease and outer-V for a softer look (no black eyeshadow). I also added Number 12 lashes (long and wispy). Little bit of black pencil in the waterline and tightlined. Copperplate eyeshadow for soft brows.

On Sunday, in the snow (see below), I couldn't be bothered with heavy make-up. I knew we'd be quiet in the shop because of the weather so I did fuller brows (again with Copperplate eyeshadow), a little liner and lots of mascara; I am in love with Opulash mascara and Superslick liner. Cheeks were Posey cremeblend blush and lips were Prolongwear lipcreme in Red Dwarf.

Last week the lovely Rach from the Beauty Spot sent me a wonderful surprise gift including Illamasqua, Evil Shades, Darling Girl and Hits (among other things). All of it is lovely, and I need to get around to trying it out.
She is a darling girl herself and has had some bad news this week, following on from her crappy time having chicken pox. You should follow her if you don't already, her swatches are amazing and she's pretttty talented at applying make-up also.

So far I have swatched a few things (not as many as I should've because I had some kinda horrible chest muscle problem yesterday which seems to have subsided thanks to hot water bottles, volterol emulgel, painkillers and a good nights sleep) but I love it, surprises are always the best things... especially when they're HITS holographic Demeter polish. Here it is below layered over a thin coat of Illamasqua Insanity (medium orange cream).

This is love! Look at it! I owe this girl!!!

  1. Aw, Rach is a doll, isn't she? Also... you can't wear older collections and stuff to work? BS!

    1. Well, if there's something similar enough that you can say it is that then you can. Makes for an awkward conversation with a customer if I have to tell them something is sold out or gone :(

  2. Great to see a post from you Ruth : ) Love you in Leopard print. I don't usually get Mac lashes, but what would you say were the best for a Twiggy top (fake) lash? I thought I'd use Mac this time, I'll use individuals on the bottom x

    1. Oooh... Twiggy style. I am so slow to respond, sorry Daisy. Maybe too slow. I would say maybe number 6? They might be a bit too dramatic in which case 8. Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

    1. I know! Sooo long.
They look a bit stupid on me, I think. I always get droopy eyed half-way thru the day whenever I wear lashes >.< Oops
