An EOTD that until now I did not know matched my hair and scarf! Ha!

I got some new MAC goodies from the CCO on Friday. It was sweet. They had superslick liquid liners (all except black), coloured zoom lashes (I didn't like the black version of this when I had it years ago - too wet for me, so I didn't buy), all the big bounce eyeshadows (eewww... they are even gross at reduced prices - in my opinion), a few interesting pigments (mostly smaller jars now though... boo!) and the aforementioned nail polishes. They also had lots of the Tartan Tale sets and I was torn between a pigment set and a couple of full sizers. I picked the full size... the colours were brighter and I think you all know how I feel about bright colours., yes?

This look used Shimmermoss eyeshadow, Full Force Violet pigment and my first ever CCO purchase MAC Dame's Desire eyeshadow trio. More info under the cut.

Two Cyan and Purple EOTDs (one high-end, one low-end) and NOTD

Above is what I am terming the high-end cyan look I did last Saturday. I used NYX jumbo pencil in Milk and MAC pigment in Hi-Def Cyan patted on top. The browns were from the Urban Decay 15th Anniversary palette and I added dramatic liner just because! There ended up being a Sikh wedding at work on the day, so the liner felt kind of appropriate. A little bit Bollywood? (ps did you know Sikhs drink alcohol... a lot? Judging by this wedding anyhow. You live and learn!)

Today I ended up doing another light blue/cyan look using the Sleek Curacao eyeshadow palette - Blue Lagoon, Blue Hawaiian, Singapore Sling and Purple Haze (again using the NYX Jumbo pencil in Milk as a white base to help it pop). I also used the Wet n Wild I'm Feeling Retro palette (the white as inner-corner highlight and the pink for blending). Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Asphyxia was a base for the crease and also Perversion (blackest black pencil liner) was a softer version of my usual black liner.

More pictures and a NOTD under the cut.

Pastel and Grey Cut-Crease EOTD

I wore this look for work and was surprised it turned out so well as it took me only 20 minutes in the morning. (Usually I take longer, but I didn't use foundation or liquid liner, I guess... More under the cut.)

Adventure Time Inspired Series - Old Lady Princess

Old Lady Princess was rescued from the Ice King by Finn & Jake earlier on in the latest series of Adventure Time. I like that she is wearing a blue and purple dress. In this picture, she has been hypnotised, so her eyes are all big. I completely ignored her skin and crown but... meh. I think blue and purple are two of the best colours. She may be old but she's still a princess so glitter was included for good measure.

Her lovely blue rinsed to lilac hair is included utilizing Sleek Pout Paints.

Products and many more photos under the cut.

Adventure Time Inspired Series - LSP (Lumpy Space Princess)

The first time I saw Adventure Time I quite liked it. It wasn't until my brother showed me Lumpy Space Princess that I was hooked. He said he thought she'd be my favourite character. He was not wrong. She doesn't look like my favourite (as I'm sure anyone can see from my photos, I don't wear pink much, or purple - even though I quite like purple) but it is her attitude that shines through. I especially love her in the episode Trouble In Lumpy Space. The way she acts towards her parents is pretty much me. "Shucks, I lumping hate them!" Also, I won't be the first to say her voice is like Kelly's.

When I conceived of an Adventure Time inspired series, I searched youtube and google incase it was a completely unoriginal idea. I found this tutorial which is amazing, and worth a look. Mine is pinker and I added a yellow star for good measure.

Adventure Time Inspired Series - BMO (Beemo)

Beemo is a little gameboy style handheld games computer. I find him adorable partly because Beemo is the family nickname for my younger brother Liam (Limo Bimo) who himself plays videogames more than anyone else in the world (or so it seems).

I also realised my nails were already Beemo colour-themed today, and so it had to be done. This nail is Illamasqua Fern with Inglot flakies on top (alternating blue flakey/green flakey). Sometimes my Essie Good to Go topcoat shrinks polishes. That happened, and also I have had a shower, washed some brushes and spent a day at work with this mani. FOTD after the jump.

Adventure Time Inspired Series - Tree Trunks

This face of the day is inspired by Tree Trunks. Here she is pictured with Jake the Dog. If you have never before seen her darling face well... need I say more?

Tree Trunks is an elephant who likes to bake apple pies and wants to adventure like Finn and Jake. She ends up in a crystal realm as the Queen. I love her colours, especially when she has a full face of make-up. She's either pale yellow or neon green yellow. I went with neon (who would've guessed!)
Anyhoo... there are photos of the look and a list of products after the jump.

Opposite FOTD

After the bright look I posted yesterday, I decided to make this look using all the colours I didn't use on the other look (hence opposite). The only repeated colour was the dusty lavender and blurple shades from my Inglot palette.

Products
Base - UDPP in Eden, NYX Jumbo pencil in Milk (both all over eye and underneath).
Eyeshadows -  Sleek Curacao palette - Blue Hawaiian (matte light blue), Inglot DS 496 (glittery white, inner corner), 379 (matte lavender), 388 (matte blurple), AMC 74 (Glittery raspberry), 352 (matte skintone to blend), AMC 65 (glittery black to darken crease), AMC 51 (glittery bright orange, outer corner underneath eye), Illamasqua Trollop (matte peach, inner lower lid).
Liner/Mascara - Boujois Clubbing Liner Intense (Black), Inglot AMC matte gel liners in 79 and 84 (red and yellow) mixed together (orange waterline), Boujois Volumizer in Black.
Face - MAC prep and prime skin visage base, Laura Mercier oil-free tinted moisturizer in Porcelain mixed with Illamasqua Rich Liquid foundation in 140 for extra coverage, Benefit Posie Tint, set with Clinique translucent blend loose powder.
Lips - Sleek Papaya Punch matte True Colour lipstick and some balm.

Thanks for stopping by, I am trying to post more regularly and so far enjoying it. Just got the news about Amy Winehouse and for whatever reason (it's not like this hasn't been looming for a while) I am quite upset. More upset than about Lucian Freud but well... he lived a full life. Hope you're having a fun weekend.

EOTD and NOTD for 15/07/11 (Final Harry Potter)

I wore this look and nails for work and seeing the final Harry Potter film on Friday. I won't bore you with the details but it did make me cry a little bit... three times.

Not in the mood for an in depth product list today however - eye-primer was UDPP in Eden (now my go-to) with a mix of colours from Sleek Curacao (matte tomato red, shimmery bright pink and matte black), Monaco (dark matte red and matte cream) and Sunset (metallic dark red). Even though their palettes have names for all the colours now, I can't remember them or really be bothered to look them up today! I think the matte red is Bloody Mary and the black is Espresso Martini...ok it does help a little! All my usual face products and mascara.

Anyway, all the eyeshadows are Sleek. I am 'shopping my stash' as they say as I am sure I don't experiment enough and still have products I haven't fully realised the applications for. The main reason for this is I really really want the Urban Decay 15th Anniversary eyeshadow set when it launches here and I'm keeping my ear to the ground. I haven't bought any of the latest MAC collection. I have promised myself that if I don't buy any more make-up (at least not online/expensive stuff) until it launches then it won't go to waste and also I will deserve a treat! Another rule I should impose is using the Naked Palette and my UD 15th Anniversary pencil set more often as well. You can hold me to that!

This - the nail polish I am still wearing after five days, four days of which I spent working 9-5 - is A-England Tristam. It's a lovely yellow gold. I thought it would go well with Harry's snitch (how wrong does that sound?) Also, even though I was trying NOT to be in theme, I picked his house colours. Ack!
I found this really tricky to apply (possibly because I was distracted by True Blood season 3 which I am in the middle of renting from LoveFilm) but it has lasted amazingly. No chips and no tip wear.
Seriously, none at all. Very impressive!

EOTD using Curacao and Monaco Sleek palettes! (aka oops... I did it again)

Just a quick post. I thought this look was really pretty, using all three light blues from the two palettes (it looks more fadey in real life), both oranges, the shimmery white from Curacao and the matte dark blue from Monaco. My usual face products etc (and MAC cremeblend blush in Posey) - but then I thought about it. This time last month...

Only using Bedaub cream pigment from Illamasqua made the duck-egg blue turn minty green and I like the shape I made better. It seems to me I am doing something wrong when with all the colours of eyeshadow I own I make nearly the exact same EOTD!
I must think of something original tomorrow, if it's the only thing I do!

My First Giveaway - Butter London and Sleek

I have been lucky enough to win two blog giveaways in the past. Since it made me so happy to have new stuff (and it was lovely new stuff from Inglot and Guerlain as well, double exciting)
I decided at the time I should make a little giveaway of my own at some point.
It's not a competition, I just want to give a present to someone! It will be randomly generated from one o' those number picker things and will be all fair and above board.

These are the prizes -

Butter London Fashionista's Choice set from 2009 (here is a review from alllacqueredup) - a  full-size nail polish set. I saw this going for a song on ebay and I have heard good things about their polishes. Now, I don't have any Butter London of my own but I know they are quality. These are all lovely colours of which I have similar shades. If I kept this for myself I knew it would really only go to waste (I have too many polishes as it is!) and so I am giving it to one lucky reader along with...

The aforementioned Sleek Caribbean collection! I cannot vouch for the blush or the balm as I could only track down one of each in my local Superdrug stores (and I am giving them to you!) but I love the eyeshadows so far after testing (most of) them out today (from my own palette of course, yours will be new and untouched!)

This is open to anyone at all, anywhere in the world!
If you would like to win these prizes 1) you must be a follower (does this go without saying?) and 2) you can enter by leaving me comments answering these questions with some feedback about my blog.

1. Should I get twitter?
2. Do you like that my blog is mostly eye and sometimes nails of the day, or would you prefer more reviews or such?
3. What do you think could be improved about the blog? (Such as - Is the layout ok? Do I include enough information? Am I writing clearly?)

I'm not going to lie, I would like some more followers. I enjoy the feedback and the community and sharing with a group of people online. Therefore, if you post about this giveaway
with a link from your blog using this banner -

(and then tell me you did in the comments so I can check) I will give you an extra entry into the number generator gadget thingy.

You have two weeks in which to enter, and then on Wednesday the 27th of July, I will announce the winner. Eeep! Please enter, I'm nervous now!

Karma Chameleon inspired EOTD

'Aye!' - it was hard to keep a straight face with this much eyeshadow on...

This morning I got bored and did this. Since discovering my love for Pascal the chameleon, I've had Culture Club all up in my head. Therefore I did what any sane girl would do - a Boy George-esque look using the Sleek Curacao palette. I extended the yellow shadow up to my hairline, this was the main Karma Chameleon element. His look is more liner based and less OMG LOOK AT ALL THE EYESHADOW. I went with it, this was what came out.

I have snagged another of this to giveaway, along with the matching lipbalm and blush, and will be announcing it officially this afternoon. Stay tuned! So far, incase you can't tell, it's up there with Sleek's finest. I think you will want to enter. Just sayin'

Products
Base - UDPP Eden and NYX Jumbo pencil in Milk, UD 24/7 liner in Zero (around entire eye to map out liner)
Eyeshadows - Sleek palette in Curacao! (The only two I didn't use are Green Iguana and Blue Lagoon). This look seemed brighter and crazier in real life but there you go!
Blush - MAC l/e Wonder Woman blush in Amazon Princess and Sleek blush in Santorini.
Brows - GOSH brow powder (the darkest of the three)
Lashes/Liner - Mister Mascara blue half lashes, Rimmel lash accelerator mascara in black and Boujois clubbing liner intense also in black. Rimmed eyes with UD 24/7 liner in Perversion.
Face - Laura Mercier oil-free tinted moisurizer in Porcelain, set with Clinique powder.

I hope you are all well. I am. I'm excited because I'm seeing Harry Potter on Friday with my mother and brother fo shiz.

Disney sidekick - Mrs Potts inspired FOTD

I am still finding my feet with this blue eyebrow stuff. I think I like today's method best... so far. I like Mrs Potts. She's a good woman. The fact that she probably ended up with Cogsworth makes me feel bad for her. She could do so much better.

Products
Base - UDPP in Eden, NYX Jumbo pencil in Milk.
Eyeshadows - Inglot matte pink eyeshadow (362) and both their shimmer and matte white (DS 496 and 373), Blush (light matte pink) from the Sleek Paraguaya palette, Royal Tour and Dame's Desire (from Royal tour trio from Dame Edna l/e MAC collection), Sugarpill Poison Plum (crease).
Eyeliner/tightline/waterline - Inglot yellow liner (AMC 84), Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Zero (set into tightline with matte black from Sleek Acid palette) Kryolan aqua blue cream liner (waterline).
Mascara - Rimmel Lash Accelerator in Black.
Eyebrows - Kryolan aqua blue cream liner and Illamasqua Sadist (matte blue).
Foundation/Concealer/Blusher - Laura Mercier oil-free tinted moisturizer in Porcelain, Collection 2000 lasting perfection concealer in Light, set with Guerlain pressed meteorites powder in Mythic Parfait (for a more summery glow to skin), MAC beauty powder in Pretty Baby (Hello Kitty l/e).
Lips - Sleek lipstick in Mystic with Inglot Sleeks cream lipgloss 97 in the centre.
(Sorry for the pouting face >.<)

I put the shimmery white all the way under my eye but it didn't show up how I wanted. On the facechart I had drawn yellow the entire perimeter of my eye and it just seemed too much. This didn't turn out completely to plan but then what does when I'm concerned! C'est la vie! I'm going to take this moment to say thanks for all the lovely comments I've been receiving lately, it really makes this a fun hobby.

My younger brother is making me a new header for up above this blog today. The black is getting me down, and also it's pretty soulless. It's not very "me". Can't wait to see what he comes up with.

Zazu inspired EOTD + a Color Club holo NOTD

This Zazu from the Lion King inspired eye just happened to go well with my planned outfit (red cardi + yellow belt + blue highwaist skinny jeans). So here it is...

Products
Eyebase - UDPP and NYX Jumbo pencil in Milk.
Eyeshadows - Bamboo (skintone) and Summer Breeze (matte light blue) from Sleek Mediteranean palette, NARS Rated R duo (periwinkle blue half), Inglot Yellow 474 (with glitter) and Orange AMC 51.
Eyeliner - Boujois clubbing liner intense (black, top lid), Inglot AMC gel liner in 84 (yellow, on waterline and flicked out to the side).
Mascara - Rimmel Lash Accelerator in Black (now this has dried out a little bit I really love it!)
Face - Laura Mercier oil-free tinted moisturizer in Porcelain, Collection 2000 lasting perfection concealer in Light (I finally bought this and it seems as good as they say it is - decided on Light because Fair looked more cool toned, and the peachyness of this one seems to help blank out my dark circles, but I might end up buying Fair for the winter). I set my face (not my under eyes) with my usual Clinique translucent powder.
Blush - I used Posie tint under my powder (you guessed it, I got this free with Glamour magazine and it stained the back of my hand for two days!) with a little MAC Wonder Woman l/e blush in Amazon Princess to help it last (which apparently was un-needed!)

My younger brother just finished his Art Foundation at Uni and is going to take an Illustration degree next year. I wore this to his final show... with matching shoes!  (I got these Miss L Fire shoes months ago in a sale on Amazon and only just got around to wearing them. They make me happy). We had Pizza Hut after, it was awesome (free salad was a genius idea they just had).

Is it mad that I have my eye on yet more shoes from the Office sale?

Ruth x

P.S My mani this weekend has been Color Club Worth the Risque, which is very holo under flurescent lights and quite holo in the sun. In these pictures, it's in the evening sun. It only chipped after four days wear, and I was at a till with lots of small change counting to do for two of those days. I'm pretty happy with this one. One coat of Essie Fill the Gap and two coats of the colour with a coat of Essie Good to Go on top.

A couple Sleek palette experiments...

Just a couple more eye looks I wore for work recently
(hence my totally gorgeous red shirt and jumper >.< )
Nothing too exciting but I thought I'd share...

This look used UDPP, Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy on the lid, a few Sleek oranges and browns (from Sunset and Monaco palettes), my Inglot greens and yellow on the inner corner. Tight lined with UD 24/7 liner in Perversion (blackest black I have) set with matte black from Sunset palette. Boujois liquid liner and Rimmel Lash Accelerator. I used Illamasqua cream blusher in Rude over my Laura Mercier oil free tinted moisturizer in Porcelain. Clinique translucent powder to set. I would maybe use blue instead of green next time.

This look used Bamboo, Sandwalker, Moors Treasure and Magenta Madness from the Sleek Monaco palette, over UDPP and UD 24/7 liner in Asphyxia (under eyes only). The lighter half of MAC mineralize eyeshadow from Venomous Villains collection in My Dark Magic on outer lower lid. Boujois liquid liner and Rimmel Lash Accelerator. I used MAC cremeblend blush in Posey over my Laura Mercier oil free tinted moisturizer in Porcelain. Clinique translucent powder to set.

I finally got around to trying my e.l.f. studio powder brush (the flat top one) for my tinted moisturiser and I love it. I need a couple more so I can have one for foundation/concealer and one for cream blushers. It's so so good for the price and I find it cleans out really easily compared to my other synthetic face brushes (from Illamasqua and Crown brush).

Hope to have some more exciting looks up tomorrow, thanks for following,
